DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, Oct 20 – The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam will host the first two matches of the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL) on Friday and Sunday, and the facility has earned a facelift and improvement, ahead of the tournament.

Various guests are expected to grace the first match of the multi-million dollar tournament, with hosts Simba SC taking on Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Friday evening.

On Sunday, DR Congo’s TP Mazembe will take on Esperance of Tunisia. Mazembe were blocked from hosting their match in Lubumbashi due to political tussles, and have hence decided to move the tie to Dar.

The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is also one of the selected hosting stadia for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Tanzania will co-host with neighbors
