NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 1 – Gor Mahia will take on struggling Shabana FC at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani on Wednesday in the highlight fixture of the FKF Premier League midweek schedule.

K’Ogalo is the only remaining unbeaten side in the league after eight rounds of matches, and they will seek to keep that record clean against a Shabana side that has won only once in their return to top flight.

Despite facing a team on an opposite trajectory, Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan McKinstry says they expect a tough duel, but maintains that his side is keen on ensuring they remain up the standings.

Shabana come into the fixture hot on the heels of their 4-0 demolition by Ulinzi Stars, which led to the departure of their head coach Sammy Okoth who resigned immediately after the game.

“We expect lots of energy from Shabana. Obviously they will be disappointed with the result from the Ulinzi game. They might have lost 4-0 but it doesn’t give the right profile of how they have been this season,” McKinstry said.

He added; “In the other seven games they have really been tight and they beat Tusker FC here at Kasarani so definitely they are not a team that we can take lightly.”

“When a team loses by four, the minimum is that they will come to try and make amends and they will play with passion and pride. That is the least their fans expect of them and for us, we always love to play in a big audience.”

Gor are placed second in the standings, three points behind leaders Posta Rangers and a win will take them joint top.

Shabana are third from bottom with only seven points and without their head coach, will look to restore some bit of confidence into their campaign with what can be a massive morale boosting victory against the 20-time league champions.

Meanwhile, Ulinzi will be travelling the short distance to Ruaraka to take on Tusker FC, hoping the bounce and confidence from a massive win at home will sail them into a victory against the Brewers.

Tusker have had a relatively tough start to the season, with only three wins in eight matches to pile pressure on coach Robert Matano’s shoulders.

But, they won away to Sofapaka over the weekend in Machakos, and they will seek back to back wins for the first time this season.

Another team that will look to build on the bounce from their weekend win is AFC Leopards, who picked their first three points of the campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Nzoia Sugar.

Ingwe, under new coach Tomas Trucha will be at home against Kariobangi Sharks at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
