NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 25 – Posta Rangers opened a four-point gap on top of the FKF Premier League standings after beating Shabana FC 3-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, while AFC Leopards were held to a 1-1 draw by Sofapaka in the late kick off.
In the early kick off in Machakos, Posta were in no mood to drop points again after three consecutive draws, and they needed just four and a half minutes to break the deadlock when Felix Oluoch broke the deadlock with a header from the backpost off a corner.
But, Shabana, with only two wins this season, restored their hopes when Eugene Mukangula levelled matters after 10 minutes with a contender for goal of the season.
The former AFC Leopards skipper swung a brilliant left footed volley from the edge of the box, leaving the Posta keeper dazed.
Shabana’s joy of an equalizer however lasted only six minutes as Posta re-took the lead, Brian Otieno scoring with another sublime kick, a long range effort from the left.
Shabana’s woes went from bad to worse six minutes to the break courtesy of an own goal from defender Brian Magare, but most of the balme would go to keeper Eric Ongiri.
The shot stopper tried to collect a backpass from Magare, but took his eyes off the ball, missing his control and the ball rolling into the back of the net.
In the second half, Shabana made attempts to rise back into contention, but Posta had closed shop, managing the three points to keep their dream season running.
